Today's emphasis on the artificial and natural ingredients of the foods that we eat has placed new emphasis on the chemical composition of that food. Examine the chemical, nature of many familiar food products. Experiments in this module: Presence of sugars, starches, fats and proteins, fruit discoloration, chemical composition of milk, presence of iodine in salt, calcium propionate in bread and the qualitative test for vitamin C and sulfur dioxide.
