Discover how scientists are able to learn about the world around us by studying how light interacts with matter. Spectrophotometry gives students an understanding of the principles of spectral analysis and explains the relationship between absorbance and transmittance. Students then go inside the lab to put this information into action as they perform serial dilutions, develop a standard curve and determine the concentration of aspirin in two unknown solutions using a spectrophotometer. In the process, they use proper scientific procedures and come to understand that measurement errors may affect calculations. Part of the multivolume Science Lab Investigations! DVD Series. Includes a Teacher's Guide.
