Key responsibilities of School Safety Patrol members include:

Undergoing comprehensive traffic safety training.
Ensuring students’ safety as they cross roads on their way to and from school.
Assisting bus drivers in the safe transportation of students.
Educating peers on traffic safety rules and practices.
Taking on various leadership roles as directed by school officials.

Patrol members are usually selected by teachers and principals, with parental consent. A designated teacher often acts as the patrol advisor, and local law enforcement may provide additional support.
