Melting Point Apparatus
Melting Point Apparatus
16896

A very simple, easy and economical way of measuring melting points. The apparatus consists of an aluminum block 2.5" (62mm) in diameter by 2" (50mm) high, with a slanted hole to accept a thermometer. The testing material is sprinkled on the top of the block and the block is heated with a heat source like a bunsen burner. As soon as the material starts to melt the reading on the thermometer is the melting point. This apparatus can be used to measure melting points upto 250 degrees C. Stand and thermometer not included.

Heat Absorption Apparatus
Heat Absorption Apparatus
16895

To study and demonstrate heat absorption and radiation. Consists of two metal concave plates one white and the other painted black with thermometer holders on the back, and in-between is a lamp, heat source. When the lamp is switched on and the temperature is measured of the metal plates, it can be studied which one absorbs heat quicker and more than the other. After the lamp is turned off, we can also study which losses heat quicker. Lamp operates on 12VDC. Base Size 7.75" x 7.75" x 0.5". Metal plates are 3.75" in dia. Total height of unit 5.5". One bulb included, thermometers not included.

Heat Transfer Kit
Heat Transfer Kit
15230

Students fill one container with water at room temperature and the other with boiling water. A thermometer is placed in each container and the water temperature in both cups read before heat transfer. The metal bar is then immersed in the cups, and students observe heat lost by boiling water and heat gained in the cooler water. Each kit includes: 2 insulated containers; 2 insulated lids with slots; 1 U-shaped aluminum transfer bar; 2 thermometers 20 degrees to 110 degrees. Additional materials required: low-temperature thermometer.

Conductometer
Conductometer
14695

Demonstrates the difference in thermal conductivity of different metals. Consists of five metal rods stainless steel, brass, copper, iron and aluminum connected to a center metal, brass, hub which is mounted on a rod with wooden handle. The five rods have depressions on the ends to hold wax. When the center hub is heated, heat is conducted through the rods and conductivity of heat can be ascertained by the melting of wax.
